Hon. Joseph L.F. Hamilton
Born on November 15, 1954, in Beterverwagting/Triumph, East Coast Demerara,
Honourable Minister Joseph Hamilton was raised by his grandparents. He has been
married for over 40 years, is a father to four sons, and a grandfather to many.
From a young age, Hamilton aspired to serve his country. He began his academic journey at St. Mary’s Primary School and continued at the Muslim College Secondary School.
His dream materialized when he graduated from the Morse School of Business in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, with a degree in Information Technology. From 1991 to 1994, he worked at the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), starting as a supervisor and advancing to a managerial role as an IT specialist.
Minister Hamilton's dedication to public service is evident through his various roles. He served as a city councillor for the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC) from 1994 to 1997. In 1998, he joined the National Assembly as a Member of Parliament and concurrently served as a co for the Regional Democratic Council Region Four.
He returned to the National Assembly from 2001 to 2006 and later served as a Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Health from 2012 to 2015.
Currently, Joseph Hamilton serves as the Minister of Labour, representing the people in the National Assembly. Known for his unwavering dedication to the nation of Guyana, he lives by the mantra "don't complain".

The Ministry of Labour mandate includes:
Establishing the national labour policy;
Promoting sound industrial relations policies and practices through collective bargaining;
Advisory support services to trade unions, employers and state agencies;
Resolving labour disputes;
Conciliation/mediation services;
Certification of trade unions;
Setting up and servicing arbitration tribunals;
Labour and occupational safety and health inspections and enforcement;
Employment, recruitment and placementservices;
Regulating recruitment agencies;
Capacity building for HRD in industrial and vocational training;
Promoting tripartite collaboration and consultations.
